Caustic Water Heater Requires Special Considerations
Application:
A PVC manufacturer needed to heat a caustic and water mix as part of their chloral conversion process. Steam injection heating was selected as the method to quickly bring process up to 130°F temperature feeding a holding vessel. Material of construction was to be selected based on suitability for handling 5% caustic.

A Pick Model 6X75-3, rated at up to 7500 lb/hr steam flow was designed with all wetted side materials in Alloy 20 material. Steam side components, including steam control valve were isolated by Alloy 20 check valve.
Rosemount instrumentation was specified for interface with customer DCS control network.
